Meet The Franchise Owners
The first franchisee owner to go from KidsPark Teacher to KidsPark owner, Katie has always had a passion for children. Originally from Kansas City, Katie moved to Lincoln in 2009 with her husband, Steve Krivolavek, who is a local chiropractor.
Katie began working with children at the age of 16 as a figure skating group lesson coach, which she continued to do through her college years. Katie attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a degree in Applied Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education in 2007. After graduation she began her position at KidsPark Olathe as the preschool teacher, where she worked while she earned her Elementary Education Certification. She achieved her certification from Ottawa University-Kansas City in 2009.
After moving to Lincoln, Katie took a position at Everett Elementary school as a 2nd grade teacher. She received recognition as the Junior Achievement Teacher of the Year in her second year of teaching. She worked in LPS until the birth of her first child in 2012.
Katie took time to start and grow her family from 2012 to 2015 when she opened her own KidsPark location in Lincoln, NE. The idea to bring KidsPark to Lincoln came from her own need for flexible child care. Katie’s parents and Steve’s parents both live 3 hours away, so they are not always available to help with child care needs. During a trip to Target with a screaming baby and crazy toddler, the idea was born to bring a brand she already knew and loved to Lincoln.
Katie is a mom of 3, Girl Scout Troop leader, and loves to support local moms in their endeavors; whether that be supporting their decision to stay at home with their children, being an entrepreneur, blogger, or CEO.
