Happy New Year

It is really 2008! By now we are all (hopefully) used to writing an 8 at the end of the date. The holidays feel a long way off and we’ve adjusted to the shorter days and cooler mornings. It is actually a cozy, nesting time. It is a perfect time for Valentine’s Day to sneak in and add a little sparkle. And, it doesn’t have to be just cards and candy. Show your love in little ways, Valentine’s Day and any time:

- Get up a little early and make fresh muffins for breakfast (or make them the night before when the kids are in bed.)
- Surprise your kids with tickets to a special event or movie.
- Tuck a silly note in your child’s lunch box. Maybe even pack a sandwich cut in a heart shape.
- Say goodnight, and thank them for such a fun day.
- Make a child’s favorite meal for no occasion.
- Ask what they would like to do today.
- Give shiny red apples with bows because they are the “apples” of your eyes
- Do one of their chores (maybe they will reciprocate).

Remember, a surprise is the act of causing somebody to feel unexpected wonder or delight. Happily, it also transfers to the giver.

Cookie Decorating

It’s our favorite Valentine’s activity. We provide the icing, sprinkles and heart-shaped cookies so you can create and eat a special treat.

Pajama Party

Saturday, February 23
The fun begins at 5:30 pm. Come dressed in your PJ’s or favorite comfy clothes. We’ll have PJ relays, snowball fights, sock hop, delicious s’mores and more.

Slime and Grime Day

Saturday, March 8
Little Scientists will enjoy a day of mad science - mixing, playing with and taking home green slime, GAK and goop from our mini-green laboratory. Dress for messy play.

Green Day

Monday, March 17
We’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day all day with green treats, arts & crafts and special leprechaun surprises. Don’t forget to wear something green.

Green Thumb

Thursday, March 20
Celebrate the first day of Spring by creating a colorful container garden to take home.
