A New Tradition
Keep the holiday spirit going with thank you's
When the dust settles on the current holiday madness, what better way to reflect on the season and give thanks than to send thank you notes to the people who made it special? To instill this sense of appreciation in your children, you can write or make cards with your kids. It's a great activity during school break and a way to encourage or reinforce well-mannered social habits.
There are so many great ways to send a thank you without making it a big effort. And, remember it truly is the thought that counts. It is fine if a child's card is not “perfect”. No matter - it is still a wonderful way to brighten someone's day. Here are some tips on how to make simple and colorful thank you notes this season. In all cases, depending on their age you can write their dictated message inside, or they can write it themselves. If your kids need practice writing, write a sample for them to follow.
Minimalist
Fold color construction paper or office paper in half from top to bottom and then in half from left to right again. Have your kids use crayons, washable markers, paints or pencils to draw a picture on the front - perhaps of the gift they received.
Crafty
Stickers and rubber stamps are a great way to peak kids' interest and get their creative muscles moving. You can purchase blank, precut cards and envelopes for you and your kids to decorate at most office supply stores or online (buy on amazon). For your older kids who may be looking for a more sophisticated hand done result, the Paper Source also has great kits and how-tos online. We like their sticker animal cards.
Techy
Your digital photos are a great way to make a personalized card - especially if it is a picture of your child with their gift. Most photo management software has a feature that allows you to print out a photo as your own photo greeting card. Or you can use a card-making software program to set up your photos. Greeting Card Factory Deluxe 7 offers this as a feature. In addition to using photos, you can also create your own cards in Microsoft Word. Learn how
And now it's our turn to say Thank You to each of you for a wonderful year of growth and discovery in 2007 with KidsPark. We wish you all the best for an exciting new year in 2008 and look forward to seeing you soon.
