Spread the happiness.
It makes us happy to be part of a community of happy kids and happy parents. At KidsPark we are committed to spreading that happiness to your community. Caring and educating children while supporting parents as they juggle responsibilities and activities is our goal, and it gives us great pleasure to be a trusted part of your support system. Now, with our Happy Community programs in place, we want to support those community projects that make your world happier.
KidsPark Sparkler micro-grants are helping to keep the Arts in our community’s classrooms. These are our latest grants.
Don't Be Afraid; It's Just Opera Los Angeles Opera Assembly
Darby Elementary, Northridge, CA
The performance by acclaimed mezzo-soprano Suzanna Guzman was eye (and ear) opening. Kids learned how their talents could be used within opera as musicians, lighting, set design, marketing and outreach. Staff and students alike remarked it was one of the best assemblies they had ever seen.
Dragon Plays Theater Workshop
2 Kindergartner Classes
Hooker Oak Elementary, Chico, CA
Students produced a play and rock opera in response to the story, “The Knight and the Dragon” by Tomi dePaola
and the poem, “Custard the Dragon” by Ogden Nash. Students wrote the script, made scenery, designed costumes and baked refreshments. The stars focused on story comprehension, listening to their directors, following cues and memorizing their lines and lyrics. Teamwork and confidence grew among the troupe. It had a short but stellar run!
